Well mmm, what to say? Firstly I apologise for may lack of blogging hubbie has done a much better job and his ability to write actually makes sense not like mine. I believe my grammar, English and the ability to put a sentence together are probably graded at a year 7 level ( maybe lower child A writes much better). Hubbie has always corrected my blogging so from now all you’ll get from me is bad spelling, punctuation and English which is really me. After year 7 teachers didn’t really care anymore it was all about content until I got to uni. We had one pedantic lecturer that used to go to town with the red pen on spelling, grammar the lot very depressing for someone like me. Fortunately nurses don’t need very good writing and only limited abilities with maths. In the end probably a good career for someone like me although I like cooking much better.
Well the selling and buying stress is all gone now we just have the need to go back to work. Not because I enjoy it but because we are finding ourselves a little short. Books, uniforms and moving expenses have drilled a small hole in the finances the credit card is really starting to flash. Don’t get me wrong there are some parts of my job I enjoy immunisations, dressings, ecgs, spirometry, and on the computer. What I don’t enjoy is stress and is seems the older I get the more my body is unable to cope with it. My problem is what does a qualified and experienced practice nurse do? Well I’ll find out on Monday as I have an appointment with a careers counsellor if she can’t sort me out well no one can. I hereby recommend to all that nursing isn’t all its cut out to be – I have found it tiring, dirty, stressful and open to all sorts of abuse from Drs, families and the patient themselves. The hours are terrible. I have been involved in a few codes (not one successful) and had a few emergency, emergencies at work cause that’s were sick people go. Well there’s nothing like the stress of having someone’s life or death in your hands that one is a hard pill to swallow. Nursing is for the tough, the adventurous, the unambitious and those who don’t care for money (compared to most degrees nursing wages are crappy). None of these are me although I do have a lot of sympathy and the ability to empathise more than most people. Funny thing is sometimes I REALLY dislike people.
Well will talk more dm stuff later won’t bore you with it in one hit.
We’ve missed you!
goodness me .. you added another blog! spelling and grammar? nah dont worry. most of the next generation dont read or write any thing. you do fine. any one who can spell spirometry is in front. nursing: read florence nightingale for inspiration. its not about money. by the way .. what on earth is spirometry?
I wrote the above at 3.19pm not 4.16am
Spirometry…..The spearing of one confined to small medical cubical…?? Thats my guess.
We love you SIL…K…… grammar and all.
Be thinking of you on your day ‘back’ at work…… Let us know how long it takes you to get there in peak hour.
Spirometry is a lung function test used to test lung volumes before and after bronchodilators often for medicals, asthmatics and emphysema pts. How did the careers counsellor go i hear u ask? Well the job ass’t says im caring and into science therfore recommendations are school nurse, administration in hospitals (apparently its easier to teach the nurse to type than to teach medical terminology to a receptionist), vet nurse(low pay highly competative), and assisting people with disabilities. Ill think on that. Muse Im really starting to admire you apparently careers counsellours spend alot of time advising teachers that want out.

ALL ABOVE YEAR SEVEN LEVEL AND ALL CORRECT
what is bronchodilator?
Bronchodilator a drug that dilates the tubes and sacs of the lungs to allow better air flow. Most common one is ventolin.
ahhh ventolin. something even I have heard of
good luck with work.
Ohhhh Ventolin….. I know that one, The stuff to make your lungs open up a bit and send your heartbeat racing.
Advisor comes to mind K, what about doing teaching, then become a adult Ed teacher, oh you’d be great. Or phone advice…. But not those 1900 numbers…. steer clear of those ads.
hope you had a great day.
So, how was it??
I heard there were two days of induction…..two days!
A whole two days……..sheeesh.
LOL You heard….funny.
Kiddies will cope just fine.
SIL…K will do just great.
Induction was ok. Computer training was boring i had to sit and jiggle to stop falling asleep (yep im one of those annoying people who make the table wobble without realising how annoying i am). Worked with another nurse who then made errors and had to fill in incident form and actually went to my own work today. All good. Kids good therefore will try again next week.
8 minutes from home worked 1/2 hour overtime already.
Oh Im tired
From what you told me today, induction might have been the high point at this job!
